2026 in debriding: what has changed
The debriding landscape has shifted significantly between 2023 and 2026, with three major moves.
1. Uptobox's definitive shutdown
Uptobox, one of the most popular French-speaking file hosts since 2011, had its servers seized in late September 2023. The block on nine domains was confirmed by court ruling on August 9, 2024. In March 2026, a new ruling extended the block to 35 illegal streaming sites. Practical consequence: legacy 'Uptobox debriders' no longer have a purpose, and the traffic has shifted to 1Fichier and RapidGator.

2. 1Fichier remains the #1 host in France
After Uptobox's exit, 1Fichier captures most French-speaking traffic — the query 'débrideur 1fichier' generates 1,000+ monthly searches according to Google Search Console. The service remains accessible from France and its free-tier limits (1 file every 30 minutes, throttled speed) make it the #1 target for debriders.

3. Freemium is gaining ground
Historical players (AllDebrid, Real-Debrid, Debrid-Link) remain 100% paid. But newcomers — most notably World-Debrid — embrace freemium: a free plan sufficient for casual use, and an affordable Premium plan (€2.39/month) for regular users. That model accounted for most of the new sign-ups in 2026.
